On 23 June we start to test the survival rate after 10 days of 5 mangrove plant species packed with gel on their bare roots and wrapped in paper and in a large plastic bag. They are large mature seedlings of about 400 gr on average : Sonneratia caseolaris, Lumnitzera littorea, Lumnitzera racemosa, Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza.Plants of the same five species are planted in a soft water "aquarium" :

Then we let the leaves dry a bit before packing. After 10 days of being packed under stressful conditions these 5 mangrove species will be replanted.
The pictures below show a very positive outcome at the beginning.
Only one plant has lost its leaves and small leaves
have already started during the 10 days in carton. They are repotted in mud and water, the pH is 7.5.
Finally all have survived except Sonneratia caseolaris, although it was the biggest plant of the 5 in our test.
